Stony Brook midfielder scores game-winner for T&T in U20 World Cup qualifier

Stony Brook freshman midfielder Jarred Dass scored in the 48th minute to lift the Trinidad & Tobago U20 team to a 1-0 win over Guadeloupe in U20 World Cup qualifying on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s match was the first of the first round of Caribbean Football Union qualifying for the U20 World Cup. Dass, who is the only college soccer player on the team, joined the Seawolves program earlier this year and helped them to a 5-0-0 record in the spring.

New York Red Bulls Academy and New York Red Bulls II defender Noah Powder is the only other U.S. based player on the roster. T&T faces Turks and Caicos in its second game on Friday. The final round will be played in October and the top five teams from the Caribbean after the final round will advance to the CONCACAF U20 finals in Costa Rica in February ahead of the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea.
