Report: Omar Holness signing Generation adidas deal

Generation Adidas

North Carolina junior midfielder Omar Holness will be part of the upcoming Major League Soccer SuperDraft as a member of the Generation adidas class, according to a report in Soccer By Ives.

Holness would join Andrew Tarbell as the second member of the 2016 GA class, which provides a pathway to the MLS SuperDraft for college underclassmen. Top targets Joshua Yaro and Abu Danladi are reportedly pursuing potential offers in Europe, which could change the complexion of the class and the draft.

Holness, a Jamaica international, had a goal and an assist for the Tar Heels in the fall, but contributed in many other ways that don’t show up in the boxscore. His size and athleticism have made him one of the top pro prospects in college soccer since he arrived on campus in Chapel Hill in 2013.

Over three years, he’s tallied five goals and 10 assists.
