Report: Andrew Tarbell first Generation adidas signing for 2016 class

Clemson redshirt junior goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell is the first member of the 2016 Generation adidas class, according to a report in Goal USA.

Tarbell, who starred at Clemson and willed them into the final with a career night in the College Cup semifinal against Syracuse, was expected to enter the draft as a graduating junior but will now go in as one of the prized targets of the SuperDraft on January 14 in Baltimore.

The Generation adidas program provides a route for underclassmen to enter the MLS SuperDraft. Unless they graduate or run out of eligibility, underclassmen aren’t eligible otherwise.

Potential targets for GA deals include Georgetown centerback Joshua Yaro, who like Tarbell is a graduating junior, Wake Forest freshman midfielder Jack Harrison, Creighton junior forward Fabian Herbers, Akron sophomore midfielder Richie Laryea, Syracuse sophomore midfielder Julian Buescher, UC Santa Barbara junior forward Nick DePuy and Louisville sophomore defender Tim Kubel.

Virginia sophomore midfielder Jake Rozhansky, who has already left the Cavaliers, will also be a target but he’s reportedly pursuing offers in Europe.
