Red Bulls beat up on South Florida Bulls in first preseason match

Friendlies

Goalkeeper Spasoje Stefanovic and the back line of South Florida absorbed a lot of pressure but only conceded three times in a friendly with New York Red Bulls they lost 3-1 on Thursday.

New York Red Bulls rookie did something he did a lot in his college career at Georgetown, finding the back of the net for the Red Bulls third goal. The assist was credited to fellow rookie Justin Bilyeu, a SuperDraft selection from SIU Edwardsville. Rookie Chris Thorsheim, a homegrown signing out of Bucknell, assisted Manolo Sanchez’s winner and Bradley Wright-Phillips opened the scoring.

South Florida got a goal on a penalty kick but the player who converted it wasn’t mentioned by name in the match recap. Below are Red Bulls highlights from the match.
