Pre-season coaches poll for 2013 college soccer season released

Defending national champions Indiana topped the National Soccer Coaches Association of America pre-season top 25 poll released on Tuesday. Maryland and Georgetown, which both made the College Cup in 2012 in Hoover, Ala., come in ranked No. 2 and 3 and the other College Cup participant, Creighton, was ranked No. 6.

The mighty ACC leads the way with six teams as newcomers Notre Dame and Syracuse join Maryland, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Virginia in pre-season poll. The new look Big East (Georgetown, Marquette and Creighton) and Conference USA (New Mexico, Charlotte and Tulsa) each have the second most teams in the top 25 with three.

The new American Athletic Conference (UConn and Louisville), Big 10 (Indiana and Northwestern), Ivy League (Brown and Cornell), Atlantic 10 (VCU and St. Louis) and Pac-12 (Washington and UCLA) each have a pair of teams.
