Pfeiffer complete perfect season with DII national title

Division II

Pfeiffer (25-0) scored twice in each half to cap off a perfect season with a 4-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona (17-3-3) in the NCAA Division II title game in Pensacola, Florida.

Nathan Regis scored his 31st goal of the season just two and a half minutes into the game and Pfeiffer took a 2-0 lead less than two minutes later on a Jamie Siaj goal.

Regis, the nation’s scoring leader, added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute from the spot and Martim Galvao got in on the scoring party with a goal a minute later.

Cal Poly Pomona managed only two shots on goal in the match, which was the first title game for both teams.

The win for Pfeiffer head coach Bob Reasso comes 25 years after he led Rutgers to the Division 1 final, where they lost to UCLA on penalties. Pfeiffer is the first Division II team to have a perfect season since Southern Connecticut State went 20-0-0 in 1999. Lock Haven had the only other perfect record in DII history in 1980.
