Pfeiffer and Cal Poly Pomona to play for Division II Title

Division II

Pfeiffer stayed perfect and kept Charleston from advancing to the title game for the second year in a row with a 2-1 overtime win on Thursday to advance to the NCAA Division II championship game.

Jaime Siaj’s 16th goal of the season clinched the victory for the Falcons (24-0) in the 104th minute after Will Roberts scored a late equalizer for Charleston to send it to overtime. Nathan Regis’ 30th goal of the season put the top-ranked team in the nation ahead in the 31st minute.

Cal Poly Pomona won the other semifinal game on Thursday with an 83rd minute goal from Alexander Turkson. The win put the Broncos (17-2-3) into the title game for the first time in program history.

Neither Pfeiffer or Cal Poly Pomona have ever won or been in a championship game. Prior to this season, Cal Poly Pomona had never even won an NCAA Tournament, their only other appearance coming in 1998.

The national championship game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday. A live stream will be available on NCAA.com.
