PDL All-Conference teams dominated by current college players


Of the 44 players named to all-Conference teams in the USL’s Premier Development League, 17 play Division 1 college soccer and another 10 play for Division 2 and NAIA schools.

North Carolina, Syracuse and Michigan State lead the way with two players each on the all-conference teams.

North Carolina senior defender Jonathan Campbell made the All-Western Conference team as a member of the Sounders FC U23 and senior defender Walker Hume made the All-Southern Conference team playing for Midland/Odessa Sockers FC. Syracuse incoming junior college transfer Ben Polk was named to the All-Central Conference team playing for K-W United FC along with K-W United teammate and sophomore defender Oyvind Alseth. Michigan State senior goalkeeper Zach Carroll (Michigan Bucks) and defender Andrew Herr (Pittsburgh Riverhounds U23) were also on the All-Central Conference team.

The All-Eastern Conference team also included Harvard senior defender Timothy Schmoll (New York Red Bulls U23), Dayton junior defender Lalas Abubakar (Charlotte Eagles), Hofstra junior midfielder Joe Holland (Long Island Rough Riders) and Northeastern freshman forward Khesanio Hall (Ocean City Nor’easters).

The All-Central Conference team also included St. Francis senior midfielder Calvin Rezende (Michigan Bucks), who was the assist champions for the season with 11 assists, Coastal Carolina junior midfielder Sergio Camargo and Butler junior forward David Goldsmith.

The All-Western Conference team also included VCU senior defender Dennis Castillo (Portland Timbers U-23s), Virginia senior midfielder Todd Wharton (Portland Timbers U-23s), Oregon State sophomore forward Timothy Mueller (Lane United FC), Delaware junior forward Guillermo Delgado (Sounders FC U23) and Albany junior forward Pedro Espindola (FC Tucson).

NAIA players named to all-conference teams include Grand View junior midfielder Sam Blackman (Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors), University of Northwestern Ohio senior midfielder Sergio Royo (Mississippi Brilla FC) and Lindsey Wilson senior midfielder Billal Qsiyer (Lindsey Wilson). Division 2 players recognized include Pfeiffer junior forward Nathan Regis (Charlotte Eagles), Fort Hays State sophomore goalkeeper Michael Yantz (SW Florida Adrenaline), Embry-Riddle senior defender Isaac Sanchez (Midland/Odessa Sockers FC), Young Harris junior defender Paco Craig (Ocala Stampede), Young Harris midfielder Lewis Hilton (Ocala Stampede) and University of Tampa junior forward Jason Collister (IMG Academy Bradenton).
