Old Dominion and South Florida draw; Wake Forest and North Carolina win


No. 13 Old Dominion played to a draw against a top 25 opponent for the second straight game, drawing 11th-ranked South Florida on Tuesday night in Tampa.

The Monarchs took the lead in the 29th minute when junior midfielder Jesse Miralrio collected a pass from freshman Niko Klosterhalfen and scored from 25 yards out. Melvin Becket found an equalizer in the 82nd minute for the Bulls when he finished a cross from Lindo Mfeka.

No. 2 Wake Forest didn’t have any trouble with Davidson, scoring three times in the first 20 minutes and finishing with a 4-0 victory over the non-conference opponent on Tuesday.

Jon Bakero, the  hero from last week, scored the game-winner four minutes in and freshman Jack Harrison turned in another fine offensive performance with a goal and two assists. Hayden Partain also scored in the 13th minute and Tane Gent added a goal in the 65th minute.

Davidson managed only four shots in the game, none of them on goal.

Super sub Tucker Hume scored his ninth goal of the season in the 84th minute to lead North Carolina to a 1-0 win over Northeastern on Senior Night in Chapel Hill.

Omar Holness delivered the assist to the tall Texan, who broke free from a crowd of defenders to deliver his third winner of the season.

Dartmouth and Hofstra lose rivalry matches; UConn tops Yale and Harvard beats Boston College

Senior forward Fazal Nabi scored a pair of goals three minutes apart in the second half to lead New Hampshire past No. 24 Dartmouth in an intrastate derby in Durham, New Hampshire on Tuesday.

No. 17 Hofstra also fell in a derby match against Long Island rival Stony Brook. Vince Erdei scored a goal each side of halftime and Martin Giordano added an 86th minute strike for the Seawolves.

UConn got the better of their intrastate rival Yale with a 51st minute winner from Kwame Awuah and Harvard got goals from Michael Innocenzi and Oliver White to top Boston College 2-1, conceding only an 89th minute goal from Simon Enstrom.

Charlotte stays unbeaten in conference; Western Michigan and Michigan draw

Charlotte improved to 5-0-1 in Conference USA play with a 2-0 win over New Mexico. Brandt Bronico scored the game-winner 21 minutes in and Kyle Parker added a goal in the 39th minute. Goalkeeper Austin Pack made three saves to keep the clean sheet.

Western Michigan tied the school record with its ninth shutout of the season in a scoreless draw with Michigan. The program has had nine shutouts in a season only twice, in 1988 and 1989.
