Nyquist assistant trainer played soccer at Louisville

The assistant trainer for the 2016 Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist played college soccer at Louisville before pursuing a career in horse racing.

Jack Sisterson played soccer for parts of two seasons for the Cardinals from 2004-2006, his career ending with a knee injury in 2006. The Sunderland, England native majored in equine business and after his soccer career ended pursued a horse racing career that landed him back in Louisville on a different playing field and in a different sport.

The Courier-Journal recently interviewed Cardinals head coach Ken Lolla in a Derby preview that focused on Sisterson’s role as assistant trainer for a horse that lived up to the hype as a favorite going into the race.
