Notre Dame vs North Carolina highlight college weekend slate

TV/Streaming Schedule

Second-ranked Notre Dame surrendered their first goal of the season and ended their unbeaten streak to start the season earlier in the week against Xavier and, as is the case for ACC teams, they face an even stiffer challenge tonight on the road against the third-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels.

The game, which you can check out on ESPN3 at 5 p.m. eastern, is one of three ACC matches on the schedule for tonight that include Duke and Clemson and Virginia Tech and Louisville. Syracuse take on Wake Forest, another team coming off a first defeat of the season against Elon, on Saturday.

Outside the always tough and entertaining ACC, some games I’ve highlighted on the calendar include a tournament in New Mexico that will see No. 21 American take on No. 18 Loyola Marymount on Friday and No. 17 New Mexico on Sunday along with a West coast showdown between a couple of teams that have struggled of late in UC Santa Barbara and UCLA on Monday. Both traditional West coast powers are outside the top 25, the Bruins falling all the way from No. 1 after three straight losses while the Gauchos sit at 1-2-1 on the year after a 2-1 loss at UConn last Sunday.

No. 11 Akron will try to get another win against a ranked opponent after a 3-3 draw with Ohio State when they host No. 7 Wake Forest on Tuesday night. Georgetown, another top-rated team struggling out of the gate with a 2-2-2 record, will do battle with No. 10 Maryland in the nation’s capital on Wednesday (CollegeSportsLive at 4 p.m.).
