North Carolina getting $28 million stadium overhaul for 2018

The University of North Carolina is pumping $28.4 million into an overhaul of Fetzer Field for the soccer and lacrosse teams. Construction is slated to begin on Monday with completion anticipated in spring 2018.

The most noticeable change to the new facility will be the removal of the track, which will allow for a better viewing experience for fans and seating on three sides of the field. Once construction is complete, Fetzer will have 4,200 chair back seats, a new building with locker rooms, meeting space and offices, new concessions and restrooms and a new LED video scoreboard.
