Report: New York Red Bulls sign Allen, Muyl, Corboz and Etienne to homegrown deals
The New York Red Bulls have signed a pair of college seniors and two underclassmen to homegrown deals, according to a report in Goal.com.
The homegrown signings include Georgetown senior Brandon Allen and junior teammate Alex Muyl, Maryland senior Mael Corboz and Virginia freshman Derrick Etienne.
Allen, who set the career scoring mark at Georgetown this season with his 50th goal, was on the list of invites to the MLS Combine last week, which called into question his homegrown eligibility. His status was reportedly being challenged by another club.
Muyl was a second team All-Big East selection this year, recording four goals and nine assists for the Big East champions.
Etienne scored two goals and had an assist in 17 games and 10 starts in his freshman season in Charlottesville after spending the summer in the USL with New York Red Bulls II as an amateur player.
Corboz scored a pair of goals and had nine assists in his senior season in College Park, his second with Maryland after transferring from Rutgers halfway through his college career.
Allen, Muyl, Corboz and Etienne join past homegrown signings Sean Davis (Duke), Matt Miazga and Connor Lade (St. John’s).
