Marquette senior Louis Bennett II will not be returning to the team this fall after signing a three-year contract with professiona club Anorthosis Famagusta FC in the first division in Cyprus.

The Wisconsin native and son of head coach Louis Bennett will still graduate during the academic year. He was a three-time all-Big East selection and tallied 32 points on nine goals and 14 assists in 55 career appearances. He spent time in the Chicago Fire Academy before joining his dad’s program at Marquette.

“In this case, his Marquette experience has afforded him this kind of opportunity and, even though I’m sad to see him go, I’m happy that he is able to achieve his boyhood dream, while also achieving his goal of earning a Marquette degree,” his dad said in a news release.

An attacking midfielder, the dual citizen of the U.S. and the U.K. will join the club’s 20-man first team roster.
