West Virginia topped their biggest rival in a spring match Saturday night Pittsburgh with a golazo from captain Joey Piatczyc.

The rising junior who spent time with the Sporting Kansas City Academy has been known more for his playmaking than his finishing in his two seasons with the Mountaineeers.

He was tied for second in the nation in assists last season with 13 (with Stanford’s Corey Baird and Eric Verso and behind Fabian Hebers, who had 17) and has 21 assists and just two goals, both scored last fall, in his college career.
