Coaches

UNC assistant Jason O’Keefe has been named head coach of Appalachian State’s men’s soccer program.

The 16-year coaching veteran who spent the last two seasons as an assistant at North Carolina is the 12th head coach in Mountaineers’ history. O’Keefe has also coached at St. Louis, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Elon and UNC Greensboro during his career.

He replaces Matt Nelson, whose contract was not renewed after posting a 36-35-18 record in five seasons. The Mountaineers were 8-10 in 2015.
