UC Santa Barbara junior Ismaila Jome is heading home to join Minnesota United in the NASL.

The defender/winger is originally from Gambia but grew up in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and graduated from Prairie Seeds Academy. He played 56 games and started 48 for the Gauchos over three seasons, scoring six goals and collecting 15 assists.

The 2012 Minnesota player of the year has trained with the club in the past so he’s been on the club’s radar.

“It’s amazing to be signed by my hometown club,” Jome said in an article on the NASL website. “I think it’s the perfect time with me almost being done with school. It’s an honor and a pleasure to be playing for the club.”
