Georgetown reloads with talented signing class
Needing to reload after losing its entire back line to the MLS SuperDraft and two other starters to homegrown signings, Georgetown coach Brian Wiese has delivered a talented recruiting class with some of the top talent from the U.S. Development Academy.
New York Red Bulls Academy defender Mason Deeds will be a top candidate to fill one of center back spots on the back line in his freshman year on the Hilltop. A three-year captain for the Red Bulls Academy, the Topton, Pa. native played a couple games for NYRB II last season and has also trained and played overseas.
The other defender in the class is Riley Strassner from Avon, Connecticut and Oakwood Soccer Club.
Midfielder JB Fischer, a Fourqueux, France native who comes out of the Paris Saint Germain youth system and Nigerian-born forward Ifunanyachi Achara are both intriguing prospects who could help fill the gigantic void left behind by the program’s all-time leading scorer Brandon Allen and fellow New York Red Bulls homegrown signing Alex Muyl.
The class is rounded out by midfielders Jorge Burke out of Shattuck St. Mary’s, Bethesda-Olney’s David Mason and BW Gottschee’s Dylan Nealis.
