Duke commit joins Manchester United Academy

Commitments

New York Red Bulls prospect Matthew Olosunde, who was announced as part of Duke’s incoming recruiting class last month, may not be going to Durham, after all.

Olosunde is now officially a Manchester United youth player.

The U.S. youth international who played in the U17 World Cup hasn’t signed a professional contract yet so he could still end up playing college soccer, but his future with Duke is anything but a certainty.

Duke head coach John Kerr had this to say about Olosunde in a release when the recruiting class was announced in February:

“Matthew is a fantastic player who is comfortable playing in the back or in midfield. He has wicked pace and has incredible defensive recovery speed. He has great one vs one instincts on both sides of the ball and will help us right away in a number of positions.”
