Denver, Georgetown, Creighton and Oral Roberts advance to conference finals

Eighth-ranked Denver still hasn’t lost this season after a 4-0 win over Western Illinois on Thursday night that booked the Pioneers a place in the Summit League final and ran their home unbeaten streak to 28 games.

Four different players found the back of the net in the game. Scott Devoss scored the eventual game winner in the second minute and Chandler Crosswait, Cole Stevenson and Kenny Adamatsu added goals. Dan Jackson made four saves in goal for the shutout.

Denver will face Oral Roberts in the final on Sunday at 3 p.m. mountain time after the Golden Eagles topped Omaha on an overtime goal by Tyler Hill in the 105th minute. Davis Chimento tied the game in the 71st minute after Michael Jaime opened the scoring for the Mavericks in the 20th minute.

Georgetown and Creighton set up rematch in Big East final

No. 3 Georgetown still hasn’t lost to a Big East opponent this year, but still needs one more win to claim their first ever conference tournament championship after they edged Xavier 1-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Senior Brandon Allen scored the lone goal in the 16th minute, taking a pass from Bakie Goodman at the top of the 18 and firing a perfect strike past a diving Dallas Jaye for his 48th career goal. The Hoyas defense led by Big East defender of the year Joshua Yaro shut down the Musketeers the rest of the way – their best chance came on a Matt Vasquenza 1v1 opportunity JT Marcinkowski saved just before Allen’s goal.

Big East Offensive Player of the Year Fabian Herbers converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute to break a deadlock and lead No. 5 Creighton past Providence in front of 1,976 fans at Morrison Stadium Thursday evening.

Joel Rydstrand opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Julian Gressel leveled the game at 1-1 in the 55th minute. Timo Pitter set up Herbers’ 15th goal of the season and fourth from the spot when he was fouled in the box by Tiago Mendonca.

Stanford and Washington win 1-0 games in final Pac-12 games

No. 6 Stanford added an exclamation point on their Pac-12 title season with a 1-0 win over Cal on Thursday. Sam Werner scored the lone goal in the seventh minute and Andrew Epstein made one save to preserve the clean sheet. The Cardinal finish the season with a 14-2-2 record and 7-1-2 in conference play and should be a lock for a No. 1 seed for the NCAA tournament.

Washington picked up a critical win in their final Pac-12 match, beating Oregon State 1-0 to solidify their claim on an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Mason Robertson scored the game-winner in the 38th minute and Ryan Herman made seven saves for his 10th clean sheet of the season.

Horizon League final set; Dayton, Fordham, Rhode Island and VCU advance to A-10 semis

Wright State edged UIC to advance to the Horizon League final, where they will face Oakland, 1-0 winners over Cleveland State.

Matt Rickard was the hero for Oakland, scoring the golden goal in the 98th minute and Elliot Tarney made three saves to record the clean sheet.

Peguy Ngatcha scored the winner for Wright State in the 66th minute.

The Atlantic 10 quarterfinals saw 12 goals with Rhode Island beating Saint Louis 4-2, VCU topping George Washington 4-0, Dayton knocking out Duquesne 3-1 and Fordham edging Massachusetts 1-0.

UNLV topped San Jose State 3-1 and CSU Bakersfield advanced on PKs after a scoreless draw with Houston Baptist in first round WAC tournament action on Thursday.
